After 5-years of dating, Erica and China decided to make it official by having a destination wedding on Maui! They knew they wanted an intimate wedding, so they only invited 30 guests. Throughout the wedding, they were able to spend time with each guest and really be present with everyone, which is exactly what they wanted.
China and Erica wanted the wedding to be modern, sexy, botanical, and casual. Opihi Love executed that perfectly. Using all white and green florals made the wedding timeless.
One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is when the couple is getting ready. During this time, I’m mostly observing so that I can get all the candids I know my couples love. I do occasionally re-position my couples so that I can get the best lighting, but other than that, I’m looking for genuine interactions.
When China and I were talking before the wedding, she mentioned that Erica’s family immediately took her in as a part of their own. Fast forward to their wedding day a few months later, and it was the very first thing I noticed when I entered the venue. While I was photographing Erica and her family getting ready, I loved watching the playful interactions. It’s so special to get to see families come together to celebrate such a special day.
After the wedding, we were able to walk right onto the beach for portraits. Erica and China have so much chemistry and I loved every second of photographing it. Their connection was so apparent from through our e-mails which made me so excited for couples portraits. They couldn’t stop laughing and enjoying their time together. This is always my goal! Couples portraits are all about being together and soaking in the fact that you’re officially married.
Erica and China, thank you so much for having me photograph your wedding. It was one I won’t forget!
