Jiwon and Richard’s Wailea Marriot Wedding was geared toward family. As someone who heavily values family, this made the wedding all the more special to photograph.
Jiwon and Richard wanted to keep family traditions to honor their loved ones and they wanted to add a bit of modernity to the day. Platinum Weddings executed their vision perfectly. I’m so grateful I was able to photograph such an important day.
When Jiwon and Richard first met it was love at first sight… for Richard at least. Richard’s friends could tell right away that he was going to marry her. After a few years of dating, they made it official and decided on a destination wedding on Maui.
The two were both a bit nervous as they were getting ready. One of my favorite things about doing a first look is that your nerves instantly settle when you see your bride or groom-to-be. It was the same way for Jiwon and Richard. Once they saw each other they couldn’t stop giggling and enjoying being together.
There was one moment from the day that I won’t soon forget. As Jiwon was talking to her family, I caught Richard looking at her and he just started to cry. I think it really settled in that he was about to marry the love of his life.
The ceremony was originally planned to take place on the lawn at the Wailea Marriott, but a last-minute change had them move the ceremony to the rooftop. This was the first ceremony they’ve ever had on the roof-top and it didn’t disappoint. The ocean views were incredible.
All of the amazing wedding vendors that made this day possible are listed after the images below.
