Libby and Cal’s destination Maui wedding was a blast. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and I was so honored to be able to photograph it.
To give you a little background, Libby and Cal are High School sweethearts. Libby was voted “most athletic” and Cal was voted “best hair” in High School.
The day started with Libby and her girls getting ready in the famous Haiku Mill Cane House. The bridal suite is all white and full of antique charm. The girls had so much fun getting ready which made for a ton of amazing candid photographs.
Libby and Cal loved the classic charm of the Haiku Mill for their wedding, but having a church ceremony was something that was really important. After everyone got ready at the Haiku Mill and we had the first look, we headed to Holy Rosary Church for Libby and Cal’s ceremony. It’s really important that engaged couples feel the freedom to incorporate all the elements that matter to them into their wedding. I’m so glad Libby and Cal did.
As we were headed back to the Haiku Mill for the wedding reception, we made a quick stop at one of my favorite cliff sides for couples portraits. It requires a small fence hop and Libby handled it like a pro in her heels.
When picking their wedding party, Libby and Cal wanted to make sure to have all of their best friends. When you’re High School sweethearts, that usually means a big wedding party. It was so fun to photograph a larger wedding party! With so many people, it really makes me get creative with my posing.
My favorite details from the day:
Having Max Cutrone on videography. Libby and Cal flew Max to Maui to document their entire wedding weekend. He has such a unique and fun perspective to wedding videography. You’ve got to check him out!
Everyone, and I mean everyone, was out on the dance floor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wedding with so many people dancing and just enjoying the night to their fullest. It was SO much fun to photograph.
Lastly, the entire day was the perfect combination of class and fun. You can have a classy wedding and still tear it up on the dance floor.
Libby & Cal – Thank you so much for having me document your day!!
